Feasting in your Bubble - Marlborough Style
What better way to celebrate International Sauvignon Blanc Day 2020 than to adapt to our current ‘new normal’ by having a bubble-based ‘Marlborough Feast’ washed down with lashings and lashings of delicious SB!
We are blessed in this region to have some of the very best produce - both food and wine - and what a dynamic and delicious partnership they make.
Bearing in mind that most of us will still be hunkering down on May 1st to play our part in the continuing well-being of our country, why not bring the annual Sauvignon Blanc celebration to your bubble this year?
Our regional food producers have responded to the current situation with the creativity and positivity we have come to love and admire. Many have developed an on-line presence, contactless delivery and other creative ways of ensuring the safety of their community while trying to keep businesses going in whatever way possible.
So with that in mind, what could form the basis of your ‘Marlborough Feast at Home’ to accompany your favourite local Sauvignon Blanc?
Here are some of my personal favourites. All can be delivered safely to you now.
How about some fabulous Lynton Noir from Cranky Goat Cheese - a soft white rind cheese that has a thin layer of delicious Marlborough Black Garlic through the centre . Perhaps spread thickly on a warm slice or two of Minghetti’s sourdough bread. Accompany it with some Cloudy Bay Clams and delicious meats from The Swiss Butcher . Fresh in-season local fruit from Windsong Orchard and Old Road Estate Figs are not only at their peak but a perfect match to emphasise the unique flavours of Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.
So put the date in your diary . Plan to grab a blanket to spread outdoors or in your living room, have the wine chilling and the glass or glasses ( depending on your bubble) ready. Plan some sounds and then take some time to savour and celebrate a special all- Marlborough moment.
In fact, why wait for just one day when you can create your own Marlborough Feasts with our fabulous local food and wines any time. How lucky are we. Cheers!
